About me

My name is Susanna Bessell-Browne.

I qualified as a funeral celebrant and received my Diploma of Funeral Celebrancy in 2008. Since then I have been conducting funerals, memorial services and life celebrations as well as weddings, same sex commitments, renewal of vows, baby namings and other ceremonies in recognition of special life occasions (www.sbbenterprises.com) As a multi-lingual full time civil celebrant I conduct ceremonies in English, Italian, French, German and Spanish in Perth and regional Western Australia. I liaise with numerous colleagues privately and through professional associations..

I am passionate about natural burial which makes so much sense in relation to the environment and sustainable lifestyles.

However I feel privileged to conduct funerals of any type in accordance with my clients' wishes. Every ceremony is freshly written to reflect the personality of the deceased and I am happy to incorporate rituals such as candle, loving cup or creation of an enduring personalised memorial.

Gift of Grace, Funeral Director, funeral of Michelle Fitzgerald, November 2016

Farewell beautiful Michelle who was loved beyond measure. Her Service was celebrated in the fabulous Kidogo Arthouse at Bathers Beach in Freo. Thanks to celebrant Susanna Bessell-Browne who willingly goes the extra mile or two or three offering the very best of sincere care and guidance for our families to ensure a positive healing experience.

Family of Jim Hardinge, October 2016

Thank you Susanna. You really made us feel at ease at a time when we really didn't want to deal with what was happening. We appreciate everything you did for us, the ceremony was beautiful.

Donna, friend of Michael Padgett, August 2016 - Memorial Service

Dear Stacey (Gift of Grace) & Susanna,

Thank you to you both for all your care and consideration at the time of Michael’s death and through the preparation for his memorial service. It was such a lovely farewell for him and, as time has passed, a really important event for the different circles of his friends and family to all be in one place at one time together.

Both of you were so wonderful – gentle, calm, practical, wise and caring.

You might take what you do for granted, but it’s a gift you both have – so thank you for using it. I feel blessed to have benefitted from knowing and meeting you.

Lauren, Rebecca and Sarah, family of Kathleen Bradley. Natural Burial - March 2016

We want to thank you so very much for the wonderful service you put together for our Mum (Nan) Kath. We believe Mum led us to you, we couldn't have asked for better.

You worked throughout your Easter weekend to ensure everything would be ready and that we all felt a sense of peace on the day of Mum's funeral. We can't thank you enough.

Di Rees and family of Brian Rees. February 2015

I would like to express my sincere appreciation of your sensitive guidance and assistance with Brian’s funeral. The service provided family and friends with an opportunity to reflect on Brian’s life and mourn his passing. For myself, over time it will be a memory that I can reflect on as I try to deal with my loss.

Roberta, friend of Richelle Halnan. January 2015.

Thanks so much for your amazing ceremony and care yesterday.

I asked the girls this morning if they were happy with the service. They said they couldn't have wished for a more caring person to farewell their mum. They really liked your nurturing way of watching them to make sure they were ok. My dear friend would have loved you helping her children and I also appreciate it greatly.

Liz and Keith Smith and family of Sophie. Private family service at home and public memorial service. April 2014

Amid the devastation and grief of losing our precious girl you gently gathered our thoughts and minds in dealing with the planning and organisation of her farewells. Your loving and professional approach in guiding us to consider and choose from the myriad options for funerals and special Sophie-specific touches (such as the comforting wool coffin and ashes box and the significance of the candle for lighting on that and future occasions), together with the detailed organisation and challenging event management you undertook in delivering these occasions, truly went above and beyond our expectations.

Susanna, the pain and sorrow of Sophie's passing we know will remain with us always. However, the very special farewells and celebration of her life were vital elements in our grieving process and they could not have been achieved in such a warm, meaningful and inclusive way without you. We will be forever grateful.

Anthony and family of Elizabeth Fitzgerald. December 2013

Just a note to thank you for conducting the lovely service for Liz today.

Gwennie and rest of family well pleased and agree that Liz would have approved – high praise indeed.

2/4th Machine Gun Battalion Service to remember VJ Day 15 August 1945. POW Memorial, Kings Park, Perth WA. August 2013.

On behalf of the 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion Ex-Members Association I wish to express our sincere thanks to you Susanna for presiding over our service on the 68th Anniversary of the End of WWII and VJ Day - the most significant day in the lives of thousands of Australians following almost 4 years as Prisoners of War of Japan.

With professionalism and empathy you succeeded in delivering a service acknowledging the horrors of war, life after and the lasting impact on families.

Vicki and the family of Betty Larkins. July 2011.

Susanna was there to guide my brother, sister and me through the recent loss of our beloved mother. Through her compassion, understanding and love, Susanna guided our decision making to enable us to have just what we wanted to celebrate Mum's life. As director of the service her professionalism and compassion combined, brought together a beautiful celebration. Our heartfelt thanks.

Neesha and the family of George Terpou. September 2010

We were very fortunate to have Susanna assist in the organisation and facilitation of our father George's funeral. Susanna was professional, compassionate and committed to providing a service we had desired, at such an emotional and stressful time. We felt entirely supported throughout the process and of course this was evident in the love and professionalism shown on the day.

Jo and family of John B Fitzhardinge. November 2008. Private family service and public Celebration of Life.

Thank you for your absolute gracious magnificence in your pivotal role in celebrating Dad's life at Royal Perth Yacht Club and leading us so sensitively through the family service at Karrakatta Cemetery. We were all so moved and impressed by your natural dignity and warmth at both ceremonies.
